How to survive summer

"If there were no schools to take children away from home part of the time, the insane asylums would be filled with mothers." ~E.W. Howe

I always look forward to summertime.  No school = no rushed mornings +  no homework battles!  Then it hits me, my 3 kids home with me ALL day EVERY day... for 2 months!!!

Here are some tips to save your sanity:

  1. Exchange play dates with your other mom friends.  See if you can find play dates for your children at the same time to give yourself a break.  Then return the favor.
  2. It's a good idea to have some down time each day. If your children are older and don't take naps, start a routine of quiet time in their rooms each afternoon for 1 hour.
  3. Remember to keep your sense of humor, take a step back, laugh when you can and enjoy the moment...they're only young once.  (Occasionally forget the dishes, laundry etc... Carpe Diem!)
